Info
Jack’s Rake, one of the lake districts top grade 1 scrambles and a must on any budding mountaineers to do list!
After a steep hike up, following stickle ghyll, you will be met with the sight of Pavey Ark, leering over stickle tarn. If you look closely you will be able to pick out a scar going diagonally across the face of the mountain. This is Jacks Rake.
Stickle tarn is a great place for a little rest and refuel before we start the main event of scrambling up Jacks rake to the summit of Pavey Ark.
The obvious line is quite easy to locate but following it gets harder and more exposed the higher you go. Giving you a glimpse of how it feels to be a Rock Climber, crossing many of the main Climbing routes up the mountain.
We lead our Jacks Rake Scrambles in a 1 Mountain Leader to 4 people ratio. This ensures each person receives appropriate attention, making the experience safer and more personal.
Who for?
Experienced Hikers with having done at least one grade 1 scramble. If you have not done any scrambling before then we offer an Intro to Scrambling, which will make you more confident and feeling more prepared for the exposure and tricky sections of Jacks Rake.
