Info

The Carneddau Mountains are probably the least visited part of Eryri national park, but that does not mean they aren’t worth the visit! In fact it makes them even better.

Home to 7 of the Welsh 3000’s, Eryri’s third and 4th highest mountains (after Yr Wyddfa and Carnedd Ugain), Carneddau Wild ponies and numerous ancient Neolithic sites.

Our Carneddau Circuit route starts off in Ogwen valley, where we will Ascend up Pen Yr ol Wen via a Grade 1 Scramble, The whole time with epic views of Tryfan and the rest of the Glyderau to our left and Cwm Lloer to our right. From the summit of Pen Yr ol wen we follow the broad ridge line up to Carnedd Dafydd, a perfect spot for a little snack rest before moving along a narrower ridge line all the way to Carnedd Llewelyn.

Descending from The summit we have more Scrambling and a narrow ridge walk to then gain the summit of Pen Yr Helgi Du and a long gentle descent down Y Braich back into the Valley.

This 16km walk offers vast views over to the coast, of many crags and mountain lakes, multiple scrambles and ridge line walks with endless photo opportunities.
