So you have got a little bit of scrambling under your belt and now you have your sights on one of North Wales most iconic mountains! Tryfan is known as a mountaineers playground with many different and exciting routes up to the top with varying difficulty levels!

But why stop there? The Bochlwyd Horseshoe is an almost circular walk that takes in Tryfan north ridge, South Ridge and then Bristly ridge (Y Grib Bigog) Which takes you up towards the summit of Glyder Fach and the Cantilever stone! From there it goes on to Castel Y Gwynt before another scramble down Y Gribin ridge to finish.

Thats two Mountain summits with varying terrain and four amazing grade 1 scrambles with airy exposure and incredible views of The Ogwen valley. Possibly one of the best ways to experience the Glyderau mountain range.

The route is roughly 6.5k (once you get back to your car) with 940m of ascent and can be done in around 4 - 6 hours.

Who for?

Experienced Hikers with having done at least one grade 1 scramble and a decent level of fitness. If you have not done any scrambling before then we offer an Intro to Scrambling, which will make you more confident and feeling more prepared to tackle 4 of the best scrambles in Eryri.
